Terms of Use

The terms for using this tool

An account here lets you design solar systems and send proposals to customers. These terms set out who may have one, what it allows, and what you and we each take on.

Version 1.3 · Last updated Oct 31, 2026.

Draft — awaiting legal review. The subscription, payment and refund wording on this page has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before it is final. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact us.
These terms are not finished. The operator of this installation has not yet supplied a registered address.

Who we are

This tool is operated by Power & Sun (“we”). By creating an account or signing in you agree to these terms. If you use the tool for your employer, you agree to them for your employer as well. Questions about these terms go to [email protected].

The open estimator needs no account. Only the parts of these terms about results, availability and liability apply to it.

Who may register

Accounts are for professional solar design work. To register you make each of these declarations, and you must keep them true for as long as you hold an account:

  1. I am a solar or electrical engineer, or work under the supervision of one, and I am competent to judge whether the inputs and results of a design are correct.
  2. I understand that what this tool produces depends on the parameters chosen for it - the resource dataset, module and inverter data, losses, tariff and site conditions - and that choosing them wrongly produces a confident answer that is wrong.
  3. I understand that a design from this tool is preliminary until an engineer has reviewed and approved it, and that I must not issue one to a customer as final without that review.
  4. I am authorised by my organisation to use this tool, and I will not share my account or use it for any purpose other than professional solar design work.

Registering opens an organisation — the company you work for — and makes you its administrator. We review every new organisation before it can be used, and may refuse one without giving a reason.

Roles, and who approves a design

Each account has one role, and the role decides what it can do:

  • Sales — builds, prices and submits designs for review, and prepares proposals. New accounts start in this role.
  • Engineer — does everything sales can, and approves a design for issue.
  • Administrator — manages accounts, settings and the equipment catalogue, and holds every other permission.
  • Viewer — can read, but cannot change anything.

Each organisation has one administrator, who manages its team, letterhead and subscription, and may add people up to the number its plan allows (shown for each plan on the pricing page). What one organisation records is never visible to another.

Only an engineer approves a design for issue (administrators hold the same permission), and the person who submitted a design does not also approve it where someone else in the organisation can; in a one-person team the approval is recorded as self-approved. A proposal can only be issued from an approved design, and you must not give a customer a design as final before it has been approved.

Acceptable use

You may use the tool only for genuine solar design and proposal work. You must not:

  • enter information about a person without a lawful reason to hold it;
  • try to reach accounts, projects or data you have not been given access to;
  • probe, scan or load-test the service, or get round its rate limits or usage caps;
  • copy the equipment catalogue, tariffs or other content in bulk for use elsewhere;
  • upload anything unlawful, harmful or that you have no right to share; or
  • present a result as a guarantee, or as a final design when it has not been approved.

Your account and keeping it secure

Your account is for you alone. Do not share it, and do not let anyone else sign in as you — a colleague who needs access should ask for their own account. Choose a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and tell us straight away if you think someone else knows it. You are responsible for what is done with your account until you do.

Your customers' data

The information you enter about customers — their contact details, sites, bills and designs — belongs to the organisation you enter it for. We hold it so the tool works, keep it secure, and do not use it for anything else or pass it to anyone except the outside services named in the privacy notice.

You are responsible for having a lawful reason to enter it, and for telling those customers that you have. When an account is closed, the projects it created stay with the organisation.

For that data your organisation is the controller and we act as its processor. The data-processing addendum forms part of these terms and sets out what we do with it, the security we keep, the sub-processors we use and how it is returned or deleted.

How the tool uses AI

The AI features are switched off on this installation, so nothing is sent to an AI provider. The tool works fully without them. If an administrator switches them on, this section will name the provider and say exactly what is sent to it. Whether AI is on or off, AI never produces a figure: every number in a design, a report or a proposal comes from the calculation engine.

Subscriptions and payment

The service is paid for by subscription, per organisation. The plans, what each includes and their prices are shown on the pricing page and on your Plan and billing page. Prices are in the currency shown and exclude any tax that applies, which is added where the law requires it.

  • Free trial. A new organisation may use the service free once, whichever plan it chooses, for the first 60 days after we approve the registration or until 5 of its projects are completed (a proposal issued, or the project marked won or lost), whichever comes first. No payment details are needed and nothing is charged. When the trial ends the service stops until a subscription is paid; your projects are kept.
  • Billing periods. A subscription is monthly or annual. A payment covers one month or one year of service for the organisation, on the plan chosen; the annual price is lower than twelve monthly payments. Paying before a period ends adds the new period on to the end of the current one, so no time is lost.
  • Paying by card. Card payments are taken by Stripe, our payment provider, on its secure page. We never see or store card numbers. The plan starts as soon as Stripe confirms the payment.
  • Paying by bank transfer. We raise an invoice with our bank details and a payment reference. The plan starts when the money reaches us and we confirm it. Bank charges on your side are yours.
  • Plan allowances. A plan may limit the number of people and the number of new projects started each calendar month, as shown on the pricing page. The project allowance renews on the first of each month.
  • Discount coupons. A coupon reduces one invoice, under the conditions set out in the refund and payment policy.
  • Invoices. Every payment has an invoice, available on your Plan and billing page.
  • Price changes. We may change prices. A change never affects a period already paid for, and we will tell organisation administrators at least 30 days before a higher price applies to their next payment.

Renewal

Subscriptions do not renew automatically, and we never charge a card without you choosing to pay. To keep using the service, the organisation administrator pays for the next period before the current one ends. If a period ends unpaid, access stops: everyone in the organisation sees its account page and billing, and can pay at any time to carry on where they left off.

Cancellation and your data

You can stop at any time simply by not paying for another period, or by asking us to close the organisation. Access continues until the end of the period already paid for. Cancelling does not by itself entitle you to a refund for the rest of that period; see the refund and payment policy for when one is given.

After a subscription ends or an organisation is closed we keep its data for 90 days, so that it can be restored if you return or exported on request, and then delete it, except where the law requires us to keep records such as invoices for longer.

Refunds and payments

Payments, coupons and refunds are handled as set out in our refund and payment policy, which forms part of these terms. Nothing in these terms or that policy takes away any right to a refund that the law gives you.

Results are estimates

Everything the tool calculates is a design estimate, not a guarantee. The engineering disclaimer explains what that means, and it forms part of these terms.

Service availability

We aim to keep the tool running and your data safe, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of faults. We may take it offline for maintenance or updates, change or remove features, or rely on outside services that we do not control. Keep your own copies of any document you have issued to a customer.

Limits of liability

The tool is provided as it is, to help qualified people prepare preliminary designs. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss caused by relying on a result that a qualified engineer has not checked, by wrong or incomplete inputs, by a design issued without approval, or by the service being unavailable. We are not liable for loss of profit, revenue or business, or for any indirect loss.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Suspension and closing accounts

We may suspend or close an account or an organisation, without notice where necessary, if these terms are broken, if a payment is reversed or charged back without good reason, if a declaration made at registration turns out to be untrue, or to protect the service or other people's data. You can ask us to close your account at any time. When an account is closed it can no longer sign in, and your personal details are handled as described in the privacy notice.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Each version is numbered and dated at the top of this page. When a change matters, you will be asked to accept the new version the next time you use the tool, and the version and date you accepted are recorded against your account. If you do not accept, you can still sign out and ask us to close your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the United Arab Emirates, as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and its courts deal with any dispute about them.
